Alien Radio: An To a Different Time
Alien Radio: An To a Different Time
Alien Radio wants to have fun, and they want you to dance. That’s it.
New Found Glory, Dude Ranch-era Blink 182, Fenix TX, Alien Radio. Now, you’re asking what all of those bands have in common, right? Well, it is their over-the-top catchy sound, of course. Alien Radio has the riffs, they have the hooks, and they have the sound to be lumped in with the rest of those established bands.
The Michigan pop-punk outfit has vocals somewhat reminiscent of Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre, but it doesn’t stop there. Their feedback and distortion laden guitars cut through, and carry songs through the breakdowns and hooks, while the drumming holds everything together nicely. The three piece should get you jumping with either ‘Down to Earth’ or ‘It’s Alright.’
They are out there in the trenches as well, playing shows, shaking hands and kissing babies. Well, OK, maybe not so much that last thing, but still they are out there fighting the good fight. They have shared the stage some of the finer touring national acts today like, We Are the Fury, Punchline, Every Avenue and Down to Earth Approach, and the fact that they can fit onto a few different bills is a small testament to their versatility, both musically and as a band.
Unfortunately, one of the band things I see is that they only have demos posted on their MySpace, and hopefully that is a problem that will be amended soon. Regardless of the quality of the recordings, the music will have you thinking of mid-late 90’s pop punk, so enjoy, over at www.myspace.com/thealienradio.
